Chosen Weakness Becomes Strength

We all have weaknesses, and it can be difficult to accept them. But if we view our weaknesses in a different light, they can become a source of strength. Instead of trying to hide or ignore our vulnerabilities, we should recognize them as an asset. When we place our weaknesses in the hands of our Heavenly Father, they become a source of strength. My favorite weakness strength Bible verse is found in I Corinthians 1.  Will you join me as I explore this passage?

I’ve heard it said many times that God doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called. We see many examples of this truth throughout His Word.

David

Weakness Strength Bible Verse: I Samuel 17:49

The story of David from the Bible is one of transformation and redemption. His journey, from humble beginnings to becoming King of Israel, is an inspiring example of taking weaknesses and turning them into strengths.

David was a young shepherd boy who despite his small stature had the courage to face Goliath in battle. He went on to become an integral part of King Saul’s court until he was appointed king himself. Throughout these various stages, David showed us how our weaknesses can become our greatest assets with faith in God.

The bible verse Romans 12:21 tells us ‘Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good’ which captures the essence of David’s journey perfectly – through sheer will and belief in God he managed to overcome all obstacles that stood before him.

Joseph

Weakness Strength Bible Verse: Genesis 47:13-19

The story of Joseph in the pit is one of the most inspiring stories from the Bible. It reminds us that no matter how weak or small we may feel, we can still rise above and overcome adversity.

Joseph was a young man who was sold into slavery by his brothers. Despite all odds against him, Joseph never stopped believing in himself or trusting God’s plan. While in prison, he used the opportunity to practice humility and faithfulness despite his unjust circumstances. This devotion to following God’s will lead him to become second-in-command over all of Egypt when Pharaoh had a dream that could only be interpreted by Joseph.

As believers, we can draw strength from Joseph’s example when facing our own obstacles. We may feel forgotten and betrayed – but Jehovah God knows just where we are. Joseph would have never become second in command without first going into the pit.

Moses

Weakness Strength Bible Verses: Exodus 14

The Bible has many stories about great leaders and heroes. Moses, one of the most iconic figures in biblical history, is no exception. His journey from weakness to strength is an inspiring example of how God can use anyone, with a submitted heart, to accomplish great things.

Moses’ story begins with a man who was plagued by self-doubt and insecurity. He had fled Egypt after killing an Egyptian who was beating a Hebrew slave, and he found himself alone in the desert tending sheep for his father-in-law. He felt weak and powerless compared to Pharaoh, who held immense power over the Hebrews. Yet it is this very same man whom God chose to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and into the Promised Land.

Mary, Mother of Jesus

Weakness Strength Bible Verses: II Corinthians 12:9

The Bible tells us the story of Mary, mother of Jesus. From her humble beginnings as a young girl, she was chosen by God to be the mother of His only son. Despite the great honor bestowed upon her, she faced many challenges along the way and had to trust in God’s strength and guidance to overcome them.

Mary’s life is an inspiration to all who read her story, as it serves as a reminder that we can take our weaknesses and turn them into strengths through faith in God. The bible verse from 2 Corinthians 12:9 reminds us that “My power is made perfect in weakness”—an empowering reminder for all believers that God works through our weaknesses if we stay close to Him. Mary’s example gives hope for those who feel inadequate because with faith anything is possible.

Final Thoughts:

So, what’s the common thread between a shepherd, an abandoned child, a man with a speech impediment, and a young teenage girl? They were all unlikely candidates to do great things for God. Yet here we are 2,000+ years later gleaning from their examples. From the outside looking in David shouldn’t have been a king, but he was. Joseph should have died in a prison, but he didn’t. A stuttering Moses shouldn’t have been the mouthpiece for the Chosen nation, but he was. A humble teenager shouldn’t give birth to the Saviour in a stable surrounded by animals, but she did.

I’m reminded of the Words in I Corinthians 1:26-27, “…not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise, and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty.” What’s your weakness? Find your weakness strength Bible verse and claim it. Submit your life to your Creator, Jehovah. Then watch as He does things through your life that you’ve never dreamed!
